Women’s Tennis Falls to Scranton in Spring Break Opener

Titans fall, 6-3, in first contest of 2024

ORLANDO, Fla. - Taking the courts for the first time in 2024, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team fell, 6-3, to The University of Scranton to kick off its spring break trip Monday, March 11. With the loss, IWU drops to 5-8, while Scranton picks up its first win to move to 1-3.

The sophomore duo of Kate Christian (Washington, Ill.-Washington Community) and Raji More (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) picked up the lone win at doubles with an 8-7 (3) victory at No. 2.

Christian stayed hot in the match, as she secured the victory at No. 3 individuals, using all three sets to do so, as she edged past Gisele Falzone of Scranton 6-2, 3-6, 10-8. Freshman Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) picked up the other victory for the Titans with a win at No. 1 singles. The 2023 Second Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection took both of her sets 6-2.

The Titans have a quick turnaround, as they will face St. Norbert College tomorrow, Tuesday, March 12. Results will be posted on iwusports.com upon the completion of the match.
