The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field programs earned eight first place finishes at their I-55 Tri home event Saturday, Jan. 20. The IWU men won the meet with 88 points while the women took third with 51 points.

Four Titans Take on GVSU Big Meet

IWU to host Titan Open Saturday at 10 a.m.

ALLENDALE, Mich. – A small group of Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field student-athletes took a trip up to Allendale, Mich. for Grand Valley State University's Big Meet on Friday, Feb. 9 ahead of IWU's Titan Open meet on Saturday.

Junior Nick Fisch (Woodridge, Ill.-Montini Catholic) opened the day's competition in the men's 5,000-meter run, clocking a subtle personal-best time of 15 minutes and 39.75 seconds, good for second in the 32-person heat. Junior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) clocked in a 1:55.24 in the 800-meter run to finish 26th overall. His time sits sixth in the conference. 

In the women's 5,000-meter, junior Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) turned in a 17th-place finish in her heat with a time of 18:16.45, good for the conference's top mark by a 12-second margin. Sophomore Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) turned in a 5:03.52 time in the women's mile to finish 20th overall in the field of 66.

The larger IWU squads will host the Titan Open inside the Shirk Center Saturday, Feb. 10. Running events are set for a 10 a.m. start with field events scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
