Nine Titans Post Wins in Friday Night Tri

Two vault themselves into the top-15 in Division III

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams posted nine combined individual wins at the Friday Night Tri, Feb. 16, inside the Shirk Center as the Green and White competed against Millikin University and Heartland Community College.

On the men's side, freshman Adam Beasley (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) recorded a 2.04m mark in high jump, good for the fourth-best in school history. He is currently in eighth-place in all of Division III. Fellow freshman Matt Lindberg (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) recorded a 1.93m mark, while fifth-year Drew Tatlock (North Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community HS) cleared 1.88m.

In women's triple jump, freshman Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) took home first place with a personal-best jump of 11.73m, currently good for the 14th-best position in Division III. Senior Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) claimed second place with a season-best mark of 11.41m. In other field events, freshman Lauryn Moore (Bolingbrook, Ill. Bolingbrook) was a winner in the women's shot put with a personal-best 10.94m throw.

Also posting a win on the men's side was sophomore Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) in the mile with a 4:24.22 time. Junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) and freshman Matthew Hyland (Burbank, Ill.-Saint Laurence) went one-two in the 60m hurdles.

In throws, junior Matthew Wagner (Normal, Ill.-Central Catholic) gathered a win in the men's shot put with a throw of 12.85m. Fellow junior CJ Ladewig (Palos Heights, Ill.-Stagg) posted a career-best in the weight throw (16.34m). In other field events, junior Sam Okewole (Tinley Park, Ill.-Tinley Park) won the men's triple jump with a season best jump of 13.35m.

The Titans swept the top-three places in the women's 60m with three personal-best times for Bella Gonzalez (Itasca, Ill. Lake Park), Paige Griffin (Morton, Ill.-Morton), and Jahael Paul (Highland Park, Ill.-Highland Park). Senior Peyton Pollman (Mapleton, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) was a winner in the women's 400m with a season-best time of 1:02.01. Additionally, senior Nile Doucette (New Orleans, La.-Taylor Science Tech Academy) was a second-place finisher in the women's mile with a personal best 5:44.64.

The Titans hit the road for the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship hosted by North Central College. The meet begins Friday, Feb. 23 and concludes Saturday, Feb. 24 in Naperville, Ill.
