BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams posted seven event wins alongside multiple season and career-best efforts at the Titan Open on Saturday, Feb. 10 inside the Shirk Center.

Senior Amanda Wilson (Minooka, Ill.-Minooka) set the tone for IWU with her early win in the 5,000-meter run. Wilson clocked a 19-minute, 26.60-second time, good for seventh-best in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin this season. Senior Avery Smith (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North) turned in the meet's fastest time of 7.96 in the 60-meter dash to claim the event win and rank eighth in the CCIW.

Sophomore Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) turned in her fastest 200-meter dash of the season to win the event in 26.69 seconds with teammate sophomore Bella Gonzalez (Itasca, Ill.-Lake Park) rounding out the top-five performances of the event in 27.23 seconds. Junior Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) finished fourth in the high jump based on tiebreaking attempts on her way to a season-best performance of 1.56m (5'1.25"). Wilson's mark secures the No. 5 spot in the conference standings.

Smith, Gonzalez, Griffin, and senior Peyton Pollman (Mapleton, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) put together a winning women's 4-by-400-meter relay, clocking a time of 4:09.80, to finish almost two seconds ahead of the next relay team.

A trio of men produced event-winning performances at the Titan Open, the first coming from freshman Reece Dusek in the 400-meter dash with a finishing time of 50.89 seconds. In the field, sophomore Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill-Central Catholic) cleared 4.56m (14'11.50") to earn the top mark, nearly a foot above the next closest competitor. After having the fourth-fastest time out of the 60-meter hurdle preliminary round (8.88), junior Alex Harvey (Galesburg, Ill.-Galesburg) clocked a career-best effort of 8.61 seconds to place second in the field. Harvey would later finish fifth in the 200-meter dash with a personal-best time of 23.15 seconds, just behind freshman Tyrice Bender who finished fourth with a 23.06-second effort.
