STEVENS POINT, Wis. – Illinois Wesleyan University's freshman Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.-Macomb Senior) made history Saturday, Nov. 2 as the first-ever women's wrestler to compete for the Green and White at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Pointer Open.

Feruzi opened the day's competition facing Ellie Poulette of Wartburg in the 180-pound weight class. Feruzi fell in a 8-0 decision in the opening round dropping her into the consolation bracket.

After receiving a bye in the first round of consolation competition, Feruzi took on Niyasia McCampbell of Lakeland but ultimately lost by way of a 15-2 tech fall.

Feruzi and the rest of the IWU women's squad will take a few weeks off from competition before heading back north for the 8-Woman Battles hosted by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov. 23.
