One Round Complete at NCAA Women’s Golf Championship

Titans have two in the top-25 individually

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -
The first round of the 2023 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club's El Campeon Golf Course is in the books, with the No. 15 Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team sitting in 11th. The Titans are 11 strokes off the lead after firing a 327 on the difficult par-73, 5823-yard course. 


No. 2 Emory is atop the team standings at 315, with fourth-ranked George Fox in second at 318. No. 3 WashU and No. 5 Carnegie Mellon are tied for third with 319s, while top-ranked Redlands rounds out the top-five (320). Centre's Nina McMurtrey leads the 151-player field at one-over 74.

Junior Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) and sophomore Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) led IWU on day one and currently sit inside the top-25 individually. Thorman is tied for 15th after a six-over 79, while Ludwig's seven-over 80 is good for a share of 23rd. 

Second round action picks up tomorrow, May 10. Illinois Wesleyan is set to tee off beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET alongside Denison and NYU. Live results will be available via GolfStat.
