Cerroni’s Career Day Gives Titans Lead at WashU Spring Invite

FARMINGTON, Mo. - The No. 23 Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team closed out the first day of the WashU Spring Invite leading the 15-team tournament Sunday, March 29. The Titans fired an opening round score of 298 on the par-72, 5,816-yard Crown Point Golf Course in Farmington, Mo. to take a two-stroke lead into the final day.

Junior Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis-Waukesha North) carded a career-best score in round one to take the individual lead, utilizing a four-under 32 on the back nine to break 70 with a three-under 69. Cerroni is just the fifth Titan in program history to break 70, as Macy Ludwig accomplished the feat four times, Emma Thorman did so thrice, Lexi Onsrud twice, and Jadyn Spinks did so once.

Junior Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East) sits in the top-five following her opening round of three-over 75. Sophomore Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) rounds out the Titans in the top-10, as her opening round of four-over 76 puts her in a tie for ninth.

IWU leads No. 5 WashU by two strokes, as the Bears recorded an opening round 300. UW-Stout is third with a score of 308, followed by No. 20 Grinnell's 312. WashU's 'B' squad rounds out the top-five after firing a 315.

A shotgun start is scheduled for 9 a.m. as the Titans go for their fourth win of the season tomorrow, March 30. Live results can continue to be followed here.
