YORKVILLE, Ill. - The 13th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team ran away with its 11th straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship Saturday, May 6, topping the nine-team standings by a 39-stroke margin. The Titans saw all five golfers finish in the top-10 individually as IWU turned in a final round 294 to finish 13-over (894).
Sophomore Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) topped the player leaderboard, finishing with a 213 after carding a three-over 74 Saturday.
Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) soared up the rankings, shooting a two-under 69, to earn a share of second. Beaubien's final round was one of three under par on the day across the 43-player field.
Freshman Jackson Hulsey (St. Charles, Ill.) earned fourth, while freshman
Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) and sophomore
Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) tied for seventh and ninth, respectively.
Collectively, all five IWU golfers earned All-CCIW honors. Clifford was named the recipient of the CCIW's Elite 26 Award, presented to the all-conference student-athlete with the highest grade point average. Jim Ott was voted the CCIW Coach of the Year for the ninth time, while Tyler Irwin (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Hersey) was IWU's recipient of the CCIW RESPECT Award.
Illinois Wesleyan will now look ahead to the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship in Nicholasville, Ky., May 16-19, at Keene Trace Golf Club.
