ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The 15th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team began play at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational Sunday, April 9, at Norwood Hills Country Club. As the only Division III squad in the 15-team tournament, the Titans carded rounds of 313 and 312 on the par-71, 5800-yard course to sit in third place after day one.

Juniors Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) and Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) led the Titans and currently sit inside the top-10 individually. Thorman is tied for fourth with a 36-hole total of 151 following rounds of 75 and 76. Onsrud, who is tied for ninth, carded rounds of 77 and 76 (153). Sophomore Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) tied Thorman for the best round by a Titan on the day, firing a four-over 75 in the second round to climb into a tie for 12th.

Grand Valley State, the 30th-ranked team in Division II according to GolfStat, leads the field with a score of 610 (299-311). Ferris State is in second (308-310=618), seven strokes ahead of Illinois Wesleyan. Tournament host and 26th-ranked, UMSL, is fourth at 6262 (318-308), while Illinois Springfield rounds out the top five (309-318=627). Grand Valley State's Olivia Stoll leads the individual standings with a total of 145.

Final round action is scheduled for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun start tomorrow, April 10.
