Men’s Golf Wraps Up Take Back the Night Challenge

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team closed out the regular season Saturday, April 22, with the final round of the Take Back the Night Challenge hosted by Millikin University at South Side Country Club. IWU carded a round two 290 on the par-71, 6375-yard course to finish in second-place.


Parkland took the team title, carding a 288 to finish atop the standings at 576 (288-288), while IWU was runner-up at 578 (288-290). Rose-Hulman rounded out the top-three at 584 (289-295). Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team placed fifth (289-300=589).

In all, four Titans placed inside the top-10 individually. Freshmen Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) and Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) tied for fifth as each fired final round 74s to finish at 143. Sophomore Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township), who tied Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) tallied a one-under 71 to post a 36-hole score of 144 to place seventh. Senior Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) earned a share of eighth at 145 (71-74). 

Illinois Wesleyan looks ahead to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship, May 4-6, at White Tail Ridge Golf Club.
