Onsrud & Thorman Propel IWU to Second-Place Finish

CRESCENT, Mo. - A pair of top-five finishes from juniors Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) and Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) led the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Washington University in St. Louis Spring Invitational Sunday, April 2. IWU recorded a final round 302 at the par-72, 5840-yard Crescent Farms Golf Club to finish with a two-day total of 616.

Onsrud fired the best round of the tournament, posting a one-under 71. The junior took three strokes off her opening round score to post a 145 for the weekend, just one stroke off the lead. Thorman also carded a much improved round, shooting even-par, to finish fourth (77-72=149).

Third-ranked WashU topped the field at 605 (306-299). Sydney Kuo of the Bears carded her second straight round of even-par 72 to take home medalist honors with a 36-hole total of 144. Behind second-placed IWU, No. 10 St. Catherine finished third (629). The Titan 'B' team held steady at 10th with a score of 694.

Next on the schedule for the Green and White is a return trip to the St. Louis area next weekend, April 9-10, for the University of Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place at Norwood Hills Country Club.
