Women’s Golf Takes Third at Division II UMSL Spring Invite

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Led by a pair of top-10 finishes, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team snagged a third-place finish at the University of Missouri-St. Louis Spring Invitational Monday, April 10, in a field full of Division II competition. The Titans carded a final round 303 on the par-71, 5800-yard Norwood Hills Country Club, shaving nine strokes from yesterday's round two total.

Junior Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) was IWU's top finisher, tying for fourth. A consistent showing saw Thorman finish the tournament with a three-over 74 to conclude the 54-hole event with a score of 225. Sophomore Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) continued her ascent up the player leaderboard, carding a two-over 73, the best round of the tournament by a Titan, to finish tied for seventh (228).

Junior Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) posted a 77 to tie for 11th at 230.

Grand Valley State, the 30th-ranked team in Division II, won the tournament at 910, while Ferris State was the runner-up at 922. GVSU's Olivia Stoll ran away with medalist honors at four-over 219.

The Green and White return to action next weekend, April 15-16, as host of the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling at Ironwood Golf Course. Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.
