NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. - A one-two finish by a pair of freshmen led the Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team to a win at the Garn Championship hosted by Spring Arbor University at the par-72, 6891-yard Keene Trace Golf Club Tuesday, March 28. The Titans finished off the tournament with a nine-stroke lead, posting a three-round score of 885 (293-291-301) as freshman Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) claimed medalist honors.

The individual win, which was the first of Bai's collegiate career, saw the Mokena, Ill. native top a field of 100+ golfers. Bai opened the tournament with a two-under 70 before finishing with rounds of 71 and 75 to come in at 216. Bai finished one stroke ahead of freshman teammate Jackson Hulsey (St. Charles, Ill.). Husley turned in rounds of 73, 71, and 73 to finish one-over at 217.

Sophomore Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) tied for sixth at 225 (75-72-78). Fellow sophomore Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) climbed seven spots in the finish round to tie for 16th with a 54-hole total of 229 (76-78-75).

The Titans claimed the team total by nine strokes over Taylor University (295-303-296=894), while Midway University rounded out the top-three (304-307-304=915). In all, the Green and White made the most of an early look at the site of the 2023 NCAA Division III National Championship as five players finished inside the top-25.

Illinois Wesleyan looks ahead to the IWU Invite scheduled to be played at Ironwood Golf Course and Weibring Golf Course, April 7-8.
