Thorman, Women’s Golf Take Home Wins at Wartburg Fall Invite

Thorman picked up second win of her career

WAVERLY, Iowa - Junior Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) fueled the 14th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team to a win at the Wartburg Fall Invite Sunday, Sept. 11. Thorman carded a final round 69 at the par-72, 5795-yard Prairie Links Golf Club to earn medalist honors, while the Titans turned in the lowest round of the tournament with a 290 to win the tournament with a 598. IWU's second round score was good for a program record at two-over par.

Thorman, who recorded the second win of her career, tied the program single-round record as she finished three-under. The Macomb, Ill. native carded a final round 69 to finish one-under for the tournament at 143, a career-best 36-hole total.

Three other Titans also finished inside the top-10. Junior Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) recorded a two-over, 74 to place tied for seventh with a 151. Sophomores Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) and Jadyn Spinks (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) finished just one stroke behind, tying for ninth. Ludwig put together a final round score of 73, while Spinks carded a 74 as both concluded the tournament with scores of 152.

Illinois Wesleyan concluded the tournament with a seven-stroke cushion over runner-up St. Kate's (305-298=603), while Bethel placed third with a 606 (309-297). IWU's 'Green' team recorded a ninth-place finish with rounds of 325 and 318 to take ninth in the 23-team tournament.

The Titans will return to action next weekend Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 17-18, as host to the IWU Fall Classic at Ironwood Golf Course. Live scoring will be available via GolfStat.
