WAVERLY, Iowa. - The first round of play at the Wartburg Fall Invite saw the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team play through rain Saturday, Sept. 10, at Prairie Links Golf Club. Despite the tough conditions, the Titans find themselves three strokes off the lead after shooting a season-opening 308 on the par-72, 5975-yard course.Â
Illinois Wesleyan sits in second behind St. Kate's (305), while Bethel is in third with a 309. Six teams have yet to finish opening round play as the first round was halted due to darkness.Â
Junior
Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) paced IWU in its first round of the year, with a two-over 74. She sits tied for second, just one stroke behind current individual leader Lorelei Ooomens (Carthage). Fellow junior
Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) is tied for 12th at five-over 77.
