Track and Field Participates in Don Church Twilight Meet

Harden earns two events wins

WHEATON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams took part in the Don Church Invitational meet, Saturday, April 23 at McCully Stadium in Wheaton, Ill. The women's team earned a third place finish with 110 points, while the men's team garnered eighth with 44 points.

On the women's side, senior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North) earned two first-place finishes, one in the 1500 meter race and another in the 800 meter. Harden checked in with a time of 4:48.00 in the 1500 and ran a 2:22.35 800 meter to lead the Green and White.

Senior Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone) notched a second-place finish in the 3000 meter, as she crossed the finish line with a time of 10:56.34. Senior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) finished right behind Mirande, in third, with a time of 10:57.41. Freshman Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) notched a fourth-place finish as she clocked in with a time of 10:59.63. These three times rank eighth, ninth, and 10th-fastest in school history.

Freshman Evelyn Wilson (Geneseo, Ill.-Geneseo) earned a second-place finish in the high jump as she posted a jump of 1.53 meters. Sophomore Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) enjoyed a third-place rank in the triple jump with a distance of 10.93 meters.

For the men, senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) bested the javelin throw field as he launched a distance of 54.97 meters, good for first.

The 4x100 relay team featuring junior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High), sophomore Seth Albin (Midlothian, Ill.-Oak Forest), freshman Brooks Johnson (Elburn, Ill.-Kaneland), and freshman Eddie Saunders (Peoria, Ill.-Peoria Notre Dame) took home first with a time of 42.45. The 4x400 relay squad of sophomore Sam Morris (Elgin, Ill.-Harvest Christian Academy), Schumacher, Murray, and freshman Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) earned second with a mark of 3:22.23. Both relay times earned a place in the IWU record book as each is now ranked number six all-time.

Freshman Luan Ademovski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Elk Grove) mark of 15.00 meters in the shot put places him in top-10 as he claimed the ninth-longest heave in IWU history.

Sophomore Kade Murray (Watseka, Ill.-Watseka Community) notched a sixth-place finish in the 400 meter as he earned a time of 50.97. Senior Liam Owens (Peoria, Ill-Peoria Notre Dame) also crossed the finish line in sixth place in the 3000 meter race as he posted a time of 9:49.47, which is good for the seventh-fastest mark in IWU history.

The Green and White will remain on the road for their next meet, Saturday, April 30. The Titans are set to compete at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. with a 4 p.m. start.
