NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams made the short drive to Illinois State University to compete in the Redbird Challenge, April 15-16, in Normal, Ill. The field consisted of seven Division I institutions and one Division II institution. The men's and women's hammer throw and five decathlon events took place Friday, April 15, while every other event was held Saturday, April 16.

Senior Davis Nguy (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) garnered a fourth-place finish in the decathlon with a total of 5,129 points. 

Senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) heaved his way to fourth place in the javelin throw with his distance of 51.20 meters. Freshman Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian Academy) continued his impressive freshman campaign with a 12th-place effort in the competitive 800 meter race as he crossed the finish line with a time of 2:00.61. 

On the women's side, senior Katie Vogler (Quincy, Ill.-Quincy) earned a time of 1:09.22 in the 400 meter hurdles to earn fourth place. Senior Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill.-Monticello) jumped her way to fourth place in the long jump event as she soared to a distance of 5.34 meters. Sophomore Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton) saw success in the triple jump as she posted a fifth-place jump with 11.04 meters.

Senior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North) paced the Titans in the 1500 meter race as she turned in a time of 4:49.64, which gave her 11th place in the field of 41. Fellow senior Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahomet-Seymour) ran an impressive 18:29.25 in the 5000 meter race, which earned her third place.

The Green and White will travel to Wheaton, Ill. to compete in the Don Church Invitational, Saturday, April 23.
