Men’s Golf Begins Spring Season at Jekyll Island

Field consists of 15 top-25 teams

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The seventh-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team returns to action for the first time this spring as the Titans compete in the annual Jekyll Island Collegiate Friday-Sunday, March 18-20. IWU will be one of 30 teams competing in the tournament, which will take place at Jekyll Island Golf Club on the Pine Lakes and Oleander courses.

No. 7 Illinois Wesleyan will be part of a field of teams that includes No. 1 Emory, No. 2 Methodist, No. 3 Huntingdon,  No. 8 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, No. 9 Christopher Newport, No. 10 Greensboro, No. 11 Piedmont, No. 12 Oglethorpe, No. 14 Washington & Lee, No. 16 Sewanee, No. 20 NYU, No. 21 Hampden-Sydney, No. 22 Denison, and No. 25 Redlands. Additionally, Rochester, Berry, Kenyon, Skidmore, LaGrange, who are receiving votes in the poll will be in attendance along with Carnegie Mellon, Rhodes, Guilford, Southwestern, Transylvania, Birmingham Southern, St. John Fisher, Ohio Wesleyan, Maryville, and Roanoke. 

Playing for the Green and White will be seniors Jimmy Morton (Sugar Grove, Ill.-Marmion Academy), Will Nummy (Winnetka, Ill.-New Trier), and Carl Christiansen (Naperville, Ill.-Naperville North), along with juniors Bobby Beaubien (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) and Ethan Wilkins (Sussex, Wis.-Lake Country Lutheran). Sophomore Jack Bruening (Belleville, Ill.-Althoff Catholic), and freshmen Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) and Tyler Irwin (Arlington Heights, Ill.-Hersey) will participate in an individual tournament on the Oleander course.
