DESTIN, Fla. - Playing in a stacked field at the par-71, 6651-yard Raven Golf Club, the ninth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team fired an opening round 283 and finds itself atop the leaderboard by a one-stroke advantage.

Huntingdon is right on the heels of the Titans at 284, good for second, while Carnegie Mellon and Emory are tied for third with a pair of 285s. CMU's Justin Chan owns a one-stroke edge in the player standings, after a four-under 67.

Illinois Wesleyan's strong opening round was led by a trio of Titans, all of whom find themselves inside the top-20 of the 120-player field. Sophomore Quinn Clifford (Chicago, Ill.-Brother Rice) continued his strong start to the season with a three-under 68 and sits one stroke off the individual lead in a tie for second.

Fellow sophomore Griffin Pohl (Western Springs, Ill.-Lyons Township) is tied for ninth with a one-under 70, while freshman Jackson Hulsey (St. Charles, Ill.) is tied for 19th at even par.
