Schumacher claims two top-eight times in IWU history

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams hosted the I-55 Tri Meet Saturday, Jan. 22 inside the Shirk Center that welcomed the University of Chicago and Washington University in St. Louis to Bloomington. Both IWU squads finished in third place. The IWU women's squad totaled 22 points and the men generated 32 points.

WashU took home first place in both the men's and women's competition. The men scored 101 points and the women garnered 103 points. Both Chicago teams claimed second with the men securing 78 points and the women earning 85 points. 

Junior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill.-University High) had another impressive meet for the Titans en route to earning his first-ever indoor victory in the men's 60 meter dash as he posted a time of 7.03. Schumacher's time ranks as the third-fastest time in IWU indoor track history. Additionally, the Bloomington, Ill. native captured a third-place finish and the eighth-fastest time in IWU laurels in the 200 meter dash, as he crossed the finish line with a time of 22.95.

The Titan men went one-two in shot put. Freshman Luan Ademovski (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Elk Grove) once again took home first place, this time besting the field with his 14.00m throw. Senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) enjoyed a second-place finish with his mark of 13.35m.

In the high jump competition, junior Drew Tatlock (North Pekin, Ill.-Pekin Community) finished in third place with a distance of 1.85m.  

On the women's side, senior Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill.-Monticello) notched a second place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.19m. Freshman Evelyn Wilson (Geneso, Ill.-Geneso) tied for second place in the high jump competition as the Geneso, Ill. native cleared the pole with a height of 1.48m.

Both teams will hit the road for the Aurora Grand Prix that will take place Saturday, Jan. 29 with the first event scheduled for 11 a.m. The meet will take place at Gately Park in Chicago.
