WAVERLY, Iowa - Sophomores Emma Thorman (Macomb, Ill.-Macomb) and  Lexi Onsrud (Normal, Ill.-University High) led the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team to a second-place finish at the Wartburg Fall Invitational Sunday, Sept. 12. IWU recorded a score of 298 in its second round of play on the par-72, 5603-yard Prairie Link Golf Course in Waverly, Iowa. 

Thorman posted a four-stroke improvement, firing a two-under 70 that included four birdies. Her 36-hole score of 144 topped the Titans and tied her for third individually. Onsrud turned in a 74 to finish tied for fifth at 146. 

Freshman Macy Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) posted a top-20 finish in her collegiate debut, shooting a 152 (74-78) to tie for 18th. 

Eighth-ranked St. Catherine claimed the team title with a two-day score of 586 (293-293), finishing 11 strokes ahead of a young IWU squad. Behind the Titans, Carthage finished third at 599, with Gustavus Adolphus taking fourth at 604. No. 24 Carleton and No. 17 Bethel tied for fifth with a final score of 605.

The fall season continues next weekend, Sept. 17-18, as the Titans host the IWU Fall Invite at Ironwood Golf Course.
