14 Titans, Both Track Teams Honored for Academics by USTFCCCA

Two men, 12 women named All-Academic Athletes

The Illinois Wesleyan University track and field teams were recognized by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their academic excellence Thursday, July 22. A total of 14 Titans were honored as All-Academic Athletes, while both programs garnered All-Academic Team distinction.


The women's squad boasted a 3.63 grade point average, while the men finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.31. A team must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.1 or higher.

Senior Jake Mahaffey (Plainfield, Ill.-Providence Catholic) and junior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) were two of more than 450 All-Academic Athletes on the men's side. IWU was represented on the women's list by Addison Bendery (Chicago, Ill.-Loyola Academy), Ayana Blair (Wheeling, Ill.-Wheeling), Lexie Dorsey (Mahomet, Ill.-Mahoment-Seymour), Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North), Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill.-Monticello), Kinlee Miller (Tuscola, Ill.-Tuscola), Jenna Mirande (Peoria, Ill.-Limestone), Katie North (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley), Katie Vogler (Quincy, Ill.-Quincy), Cora Wilkinson (Verona, Ill.-Seneca Township), Lauren Wong (Morton, Ill.-Morton), and Kelsey Wyman (Monmouth, Ill.-Monmouth-Roseville). 

In order to be selected as an All-Academic Athlete, a student-athlete must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 and must have finished the indoor season among the top-50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top-50 in an event or top-35 in a relay, but who participated at the Outdoor National Championships, are eligible.
