Titans Turn in Top Marks at Final Triangular

All-CCIW honors will be released in coming days

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -
The Illinois Wesleyan University women's track and field team shined at the fifth and final Titan Triangular of the season Saturday, March 6, as the Titans hosted Augustana College and Wheaton College.


Senior Ayana Blair (Wheeling, Ill.-Wheeling) was outstanding in the throws, winning both shot put and weight throw. In shot put, she tossed it 13.69m, marking a new career-best which ranks fifth nationally in Division III. She also showed out in weight throw, recording a career-best distance of 17.33m. Her throw ranks tied for second in the country.

Sophomore Addison Bendery (Chicago, Ill.-Loyola Academy) won the 200m Dash (25.66) and placed second in the 60m Dash (7.81). Her time in the 60m race was a season-best and ranks tied for fourth in the nation.

IWU took the top two spots in the 3000m Run, as junior Rebekah Harden (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way North) and senior Katie North (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley) finished first and second, respectively. Harden crossed the finish line in 10:20.51, the 13th-fastest time nationally. North followed just behind her, finishing in 10:25.29. 

Senior Kelsey Wyman (Monmouth, Ill.-Monmouth-Roseville) led the way in the 400m Dash, with a time of 1:00.18, while freshman Peyton Pollman (Mapleton, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) took second place (1:02.02).

In the 4x400 relay, the Titans recorded a second-place finish. Pollman, Jules Grunloh (Towanda, Ill.-Lexington), Lexi Ward (Downs, Ill.-Tri-Valley), and Katie Vogler (Quincy, Ill.-Quincy) teamed up to run it in 4:16.18, coming in just behind Wheaton (4:10.69).

Illinois Wesleyan went one-two-three in long jump, where Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill.-Monticello) led the way with a career-best jump of 5.45m. She now ranks 18th nationally in Division III. Coming in second was senior Cora Wilkinson (Verona, Ill.-Seneca Township) with a distance of 5.44m, while Vogler's career-best 4.90m jump was good for third.

The Titans dominance extended to triple jump, as Cameryn Winterland (Lexington, Ill.-Lexington) and McKinlee Miller (Tuscola, Ill.-Tuscola) took first and second, respectively. Winterland turned in a career-best mark of 10.77m, while Miller's 10.71m jump was also a career-best.

Illinois Wesleyan now awaits the final College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin rankings as All-CCIW honors will be announced in the coming days. The Titans wrap up the indoor season next weekend, March 13, as hosts of the CCIW Elite Meet. A full scheduled will be released later this week.
