BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The Illinois Wesleyan men's and women's track and field squads began their 2021-22 indoor winter slate Saturday, Dec. 4 as hosts of the Titan First Chance Meet. 

Both the men's and women's team won one event. Freshman Luan Ademovski (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove) took first place in the men's shot put competition, besting the field with his mark of 14.70m. Senior Emma Helferich (Monticello, Ill./Monticello) won the women's long jump with a distance of 5.36m. 

The women's squad produced three top-three finishes in addition to one victory. Junior Addison Bendery (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy) brought home second place in the 60 meter dash as she crossed the finish line with a mark of 8.07. In the one mile run, senior Kayleigh Pitterman (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) secured third place with a time of 5:54.82. In her track and field collegiate debut, freshman Davion Lemon (Marrero L.A./Patrick F. Taylor Science and Technology Academy) notched a third place finish in the 300 meter dash as she finished with a time of 43.87.

The men's team enjoyed a second place finish along with a trio of third place finishes. Senior Cole Paraday (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) notched second place in shot put with a distance of 14.16m. Junior Keondre Schumacher (Bloomington, Ill./University High) saw success in his first indoor meet by securing third place in the 60 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. The Bloomington, Ill. native ran with times of 7.05 and 23.05, respectively. Freshman Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill./Cornerstone Christian Academy) ran the 600 meter dash with a time of 1:24.00 to secure third place for the Green and White. 

The men's and women's track and field teams will enjoy some time off for the holidays before its next scheduled meet, January 15, as the Titans will host the Illinois Wesleyan Open. The first event will begin at 11 a.m. inside of the Shirk Center.
