Men's Golf Sits Tied for Second After 36 Holes of Division I Orlando Invitational

Titans are 10 strokes back with 18 holes to go

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - After 36 holes of play at the Orlando Invitational hosted by George Mason University, the Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team sits tied for second place amid an 11-team field. The Titans fired rounds of 306 and 205 on the par-72, 6,793-yard El Campeon course at Mission Inn Resort & Golf Club to finish the day with a two-round total of 611, 10 strokes behind Wright State.

In a field that includes 10 Division I teams, Wright State used a second-round 292 to finish the day atop the standings at 601. IWU, which ranks No. 1 among NCAA Division III teams, and Youngstown State are tied for second, while Oakland (613) and George Mason (627) round out the top-five.

Junior Rob Wuethrich (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) is tied for fifth following scores of 76 and 74 to sit four strokes behind Youngstown State's Ken Keller (146) for the individual medal. Also ranking inside the field's top-15 for the Titans are sophomore Jimmy Morton (Sugar Grove, Ill.-Marmion Academy), junior Andrew Abel (Geneva, Ill.-Geneva), and sophomore Will Nummy (Winnetka, Ill.-New Trier). Morton carded rounds of 76 and 77, with Abel went  77 and 76 on the day to sit tied for 11th. Playing as an individual, Nummy finished the day 10-over par with rounds of 78 and 76 to tie for 17th.
