Round One Results

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. - The No. 6 Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team started off the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational on the right foot Friday afternoon, March 20, posting an eight-under par, 280. The Titans currently sit in fourth-place headed into the second round tomorrow, March 21, at the par-72, 6,730-yard Pine Lakes Golf Course. 

Sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) led the way with a five-under par score of 67. Castro's round included six birdies, as he enters round two tied for seventh-place. Propelled by two eagles in his final nine holes, senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central) recorded his lowest round of the season, carding a four-under par 68. Spitzer sits tied for 11th place. Fellow senior Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central) rounded out the Titans who shot under-par, posting a one-under 71 and entering the second round in 37th place. 

No. 1 Huntingdon and No. 6 Sewanee separated themselves from the pack in the morning wave, recording matching 17-under, 271s. No. 3 Carnegie Mellon sits in third position after  posting a nine-under, 279. IWU owns sole position of fourth-place on the team leaderboard, while No. 4 Washington and Lee and No. 12 Southwestern (Texas) share the fifth-spot following scores of seven-under, 281. 

Topping an impressive individual leaderboard is Huntingdon's Cole Humphrey following his opening round of nine-under 63.

The Green and White will get started in the afternoon wave for the second round of the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate. Live results can continue to be followed here.
