WINNECONNE, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Championships, Saturday, Nov. 16. A total of 42 teams from Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin will participate in the last meet before the national championships, Nov. 23.
IWU ran at this course for the Kollege Town Sports Invitational Oct. 19, where junior
Katie North (Aurora, Ill.-Metea Valley HS) and senior
Steven Raybould (Hometown, Ill.-Oak Lawn HS) posted the best team times for the women and men, respectively.
North is coming off a season-best second-place finish at the CCIW Championships, Nov. 2, where she posted a time of 22:29.3 on the 6k course. It was the highest finish by a Titan at the event since 2012.
Last year,
Jillian Cole was selected for the national championships after posting a time of 22:24.2 in the Midwest Regionals. The last time someone represented the men's team from IWU came in 2002, when Tim Hachmeister came in 5th place at 24:52.64 to reach the national championships.
The men's 8k race will begin at 11 a.m. and the women's 6k run will start at 12 p.m. Results will be posted to the IWU website as soon as they are confirmed.
