Illinois Wesleyan senior volleyball player Kyleigh Block (Deer Creek-Mackinaw HS) begins her final season ranked No. 8 all-time at the school in digs (1,190), No. 15 in kills (975), No. 23 in service aces (107) and No. 24 in assists (119). Her 10 service aces against Martin Luther College (Oct. 17, 2015) is tied for a school match record.
She was a first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection as a sophomore and on the second team as a freshman and junior. Also as a sophomore she earned honorable mention Division III All-American status (American Volleyball Coaches Association) and was on the first team of the AVCA all-Midwest Region squads.
Majoring in psychology with an exercise science minor at Illinois Wesleyan, she is the daughter of Tim and Meryl Block.
Why you chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan: I wanted to continue my volleyball career and had been going to IWU camps since 2003 so it felt like home. Also, not being far from my family was a must.

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is: No money….or finding time to sleep and stay healthy between volleyball, classes, eating, and social life
Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? I got my recess taken away in second grade because the day before, I got married on the playground and apparently my teacher didn’t approve
I’m deathly afraid of ... : Spiders and snakes
Worst habit: Saying “I love love” everytime I see something cute

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: A few days probably
One word your mother or father would use to describe you: Just asked and they said “determined, caring, leader” .. but I prefer Princess.
Favorite sports figure: Stephen Curry
My greatest moment in sports was: Winning state [championship] my junior year of high school, making history at IWU (and doing it again this year)
The best player I ever faced was: Molly Haggerty (she plays at Wisconsin now)
Worst dresser on my team: Annie Cummings
Thing that’s been in my fridge the longest: No clue .. we eat a lot
Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Jaylen Beasley *drops hint*
Favorite food: Ribs, pork, sweet corn, anything edible I can eat
