Shane Smith (Godfrey, Ill., Marquette HS), a 2012 Illinois Wesleyan graduate, placed fifth in both the 2011 and 2012 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin men's golf championships.
A 2012 third team PING Division III All-American, Smith finished 54th in the NCAA tournament, and he placed 26th in the 2011 NCAA championships, helping the Titans to a second place team finish.
As a senior, he had a team-best 74.1 average and his season low round was 68 in the final round of the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational in October.
A marketing major at Illinois Wesleyan, Shane transfered to IWU after his sophomore year from Lewis and Clark Community College, where he was a junior college All-American golfer. He is the son of Darren and Janet Smith of Godfrey, Ill.

Why you chose Illinois Wesleyan: The small school atmosphere

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: Bimolecular Engineering

The hardest challenge about being a Division III Student-athlete is: Managing time

Worst grade in a class you ever got - what and when? C in French - the teacher and I obviously were not speaking the same language.

I’m deathly afraid of: sharks in shallow waters

Worst habit: studying too much.

Most expensive traffic ticket: $125 speeding ticket

Language I’d like to learn: Whatever the people from swamp people speak so that could watch the show and not have to read the subtitles.

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: Probably a long period of time because I don’t use it that often.

Favorite sports figures: Moe Norman, and Bill Murray in "CaddyShack"

My greatest moment in sports was: Finishing second as a team in last year's NCAA tourney

The best player I ever faced was: the Saber-tooth that thing makes putts!

Worst dresser on my team: That’s a tough one because looking good is one of our strong suits.

Person I’m dying to have dinner with: Mila Kunis

Favorite food: Steak

Pepsi or Coke?: Pepsi

Favorite TV show: “Family Guy” or “American Dad”

Favorite musical group: Don’t really have a favorite I like to listen to a lot of different artists.

Favorite movie: “Stepbrothers”, “Forgetting Sara Marshall”

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me: Arnold Schwarzenegger because I feel like we have similar body types.

My dream job would be: any sort of professional athlete

Place I’d most like to live: On the beach

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: My roommate Ryan Smith

What I miss most about being in the third grade: Nap time, snack, and not having to take finals.
