Illinois Wesleyan senior defender Julie Govedarica (Chicago, St. Ignatius Prep) is the co-captain of the 2014 women's soccer team (with Brie Siebert). She was a first team all-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin selection as a junior and was chosen to the second team of the CCIW all-league squads as a sophomore.
A business major at Illinois Wesleyan, Julie is the daughter of Thomas Govedarica and the late Sheryl Govedarica.

Why you chose Illinois Wesleyan: It had a good academic reputation and pretty good women’s soccer program.

IWU class you’re most qualified to teach: Animal Physiology.

The hardest challenge about being a Division III student-athlete is:  Neis Field is too small for the turnout we get for our games …..

Worst grade in a class you ever got – what and when? C+, Accounting. I’m still bitter about it.

I’m deathly afraid of ... : Spiders. I am so afraid of them I can’t even get close enough to kill them.

Worst habit: Cracking my knuckles.

Most expensive traffic ticket: Speeding down Main Street. I think it was around $75. It was karma for going to McDonalds during season.

Language I’d like to learn: Arabic.

The longest I could survive without my cell phone: A couple of days.

One word your father would use to describe you: Caring.

Favorite sports figure: Anthony Robles. One legged wrestler. Won a NCAA Division I national championship.

My greatest moment in sports was: Being able to make it to the NCAA tournament twice (hopefully three times).

The best player I ever faced was: Nicole Denenberg. I played with her in high school and she went on to play soccer at Illinois. She helped me become the player I am today.

Worst dresser on my team: Coach Barrett. He is a repeat groutfit offender (both green and gray).

Person I’m dying to have dinner with:  Bill Murray.

Favorite food: Raw fish all day everyday.

Vegetable I won’t eat: Carrots. Yuck. I have perfectly fine vision without them.

Pepsi or Coke? Regular Coke. Not diet. I can tell the difference.

Favorite TV show: "Lost" when I am in a serious mood, but otherwise "South Park".

Favorite musical group: Classic Rock. The Stones, The Who, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin.

Favorite movie: "Glory Road" or "The Breakfast Club".

If a movie were made of my life, I would like the following person to play me:  I have been told I look like Chloë Sevigny on multiple occasions. I don’t see it though.

If my life were on TV as a reality show, I’d call it:
"The United States of Govedarica".

The person in history I would most like to meet is: Margaret Thatcher.

My dream job would be:  ESPN commentator. It would be a dream come true to work alongside Michael Wilbon and Tony Kornheiser.

Place I’d most like to live: Lombardy, Italy. (Lake Como)

Two things that are tops on my “bucket list”: Go to the World Cup and go backstage at a concert.

My possession that would fetch the most on eBay: Realistically I would have to say my car. I have a mini wood bat that was signed by Paul Konerko and Mark Buehrle that I like to think is worth a lot.

Who is the luckiest person in the world? The Kardashians. They have somehow made themselves so relevant; when in all actuality they are so incredibly irrelevant.

What I miss most about being in the third grade: Having the time to do fun extracurriculars like gymnastics and basketball.
