Men’s Golf Wraps Up Opening Round at Wrigglesworth Invitational

Castro & Rollman tied for second with one round to go

ALTOONA, Wis. - Junior Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) and sophomore Alex Rollman (Cincinnati, Ohio-Turpin) combined for eight back-nine birdies, four apiece, in opening round play at the Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational Sunday, Sept. 13, to sit one shot out of first with one round to go. The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team carded a 298 to sit in fourth, with the IWU 'B' team tied for 12th (309) in the 22-team field.

Castro birdied four of his final nine holes to shoot even-par at the par-71, 6855-yard Eau Claire Country Club. Competing on the 'B' squad, Rollman matched Castro's total with an opening-round 71. The duo sits one stroke out of the lead held by UW-Stout's Nick Buckman.

Illinois Wesleyan sits eight strokes off the top of the leaderboard, where host UW-Eau Claire holds the lead at 290. Bethel is tied for second with a 295 alongside UWEC's 'B' team. Lake Forest rounds out the top-five (301).
