Men’s Golf Hits the Road for Wrigglesworth Invite

Titans tee off Sunday, Sept. 13

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan men's golf team will travel to the Wrigglesworth Invitational this Sunday-Monday, Sep. 13-14 at The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Both rounds will be held at Eau Claire Country Club with shotgun starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and 9:30 a.m. on Monday. 

The Titans are coming off of a third-place finish at the Transylvania Pioneer Invitational, where they notched a final score of 18-under 270. Junior Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) reeled in the first-place medal at nine-under, to mark the third win of his career. Sophomore Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) landed in the third-place spot, and freshmen Ben Gelven (St Louis, Mo.-Mary Institute and Country Day School) and Finley Tyrrell (La Grange, Ill.-Lyons Township) both notched top-20 finishes. 

The Green and White will compete against a field of 14 other teams, including No. 23 Gustavus Adolphus, Augsburg, Carleton, Saint John's (Minn.), Central (Iowa), UW-Eau Claire, Lake Forest, Grinnell, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior, St. Olaf, UW-Stout, Dubuque, and Bethel.  

The Titans will take two teams up to Eau Claire. The 'A' team will be made up of Castro, Andrews, Gelven, Tyrrell, and freshman Sam Uutala (Barrington, Ill.- Barrington). The 'B' team will be sophomores Kevin Schuh (Glenview, Ill.- Glenbrook South), Alex Rollman (Cincinnati, Ohio- Turpin), and Tyler Short (Lake Geneva, Wis, Big Foot), as well as freshman Taiki Matusya (Campbell, Calif.- Westmont) and sophomore Hunter Whitney (Deerfield, Ill.- Deerfield)
