Castro Collects CCIW’s First Weekly Award

Junior secured individual title at Transylvania Fall Invite

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Days removed from his first win of the season, Illinois Wesleyan University junior men's golfer Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) was chosen as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Golfer of the Week for the period ending Sept. 6. It is the fourth weekly award of the junior's career.

Castro edged out the field at the Transylvania Fall Invite, Sept. 5-6, carding a nine-under 207 to earn the third win of his career. The Palatine, Ill. native fired three straight rounds below par, going 70-70-67. His final round five-under helped power IWU's team score of 18-under as the Titans placed third in the 17-team field. With his finish, Castro earned all-tournament honors.

Illinois Wesleyan treks to the Wrigglesworth Invitational Sunday-Monday, Sept. 13-14, hosted by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. The two-day event will be contested at Eau Claire Country Club. Live scoring will be accessible through links found on the men's golf page of iwusports.com.
