Six Titans Named to CSC Academic All-District Women’s Cross Country and Track and Field Team

Crabtree and Huber advance to Academic All-America Ballots

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Six members of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's cross country and track and field teams were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District teams announced by the organization Tuesday, June 23.

Seniors Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) and Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), juniors Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) and Olivia Skibinski (Peoria, Ill.-Richwoods), and sophomores Caroline Hill (Bement, Ill.-Bement) and Maddie Morgan (Glen Ellyn, Ill.-Glenbard West) earned the academic all-district accolade. Crabtree and Huber advanced to the Academic All-America ballot, with the teams set to be announced Tuesday, July 7.

Following one of the most decorated careers in IWU history, Crabtree earned the honor for the third straight year after a dominant senior campaign across cross country and track and field. Qualifying for all three NCAA Championship events this season, Crabtree racked up a total of five All-American honors this season across the NCAA and U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. She finished 17th at the NCAA Division III Cross Country National Championship to earn First Team All-American honors from both organizations, marking the best finish by a Titan in program history. At the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championship, giving her USTFCCCA Second Team All-American status. Concluding her career at the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship, Crabtree saved her best national championship performance for last, as she finished third in the 3000m steeplechase behind a school and College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin all-time record time of 10:18.82, earning First Team All-American honors from the NCAA and USTFCCCA. Throughout the course of the year, Crabtree collected four USTFCCCA All-Region honors (cross country, distance medley relay, indoor 3000m, and 3000m steeplechase), was named the CCIW Women's Cross Country, Indoor Track Athlete, and Outdoor Track Athlete of the Meet, sweeping the awards, and won six CCIW titles (cross country, indoor mile, 3000m, and DMR, and outdoor 3000m steeplechase and 5000m in meet-record times). An environmental studies major, Crabtree completed her degree with a 3.86 GPA.

Griffin picks up her first CSC Academic All-District honor behind a 3.63 GPA in biology. In her final season donning the Green and White, Griffin took home two CCIW titles and three All-CCIW honorees during the track & field season. At the indoor conference championship, Griffin was a part of the winning 4x400 and DMR relays, while at the outdoor CCIW meet, Griffin helped the 4x400 relay finish second. The Bloomington, Ill. native ranked within the top-50 regionally in TFFRS in five events. The indoor 4x400 relay posted the sixth-best time in the 4x400 relay with a 3:53.11, good for 44th nationally. The DMR was also sixth in the midwest behind a season-best time of 12:10.94. In the indoor 400m, Griffin sat 39th regionally with a season-best 59.22, while her time of 26.03 in the 200m was good for 42nd. In the outdoor 400m, Griffin ranked 50th regionally (1:00.15).

Huber earns her second consecutive award after her best season yet. The junior qualified for both NCAA Championships for the first time in her career, earning First Team All-American status in the indoor 800m after a fourth-place finish at the indoor national championship. She qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championship, finishing 17th in the 800m. Huber collected four USTFCCCA All-Region accolades, earning the award during the indoor season in the 800m and as part of the 4x400 and DMR, and followed with an outdoor 800m honor. Huber swept the 800m at the CCIW Championships, and was a member of the indoor 4x400 and DMR champion relay squads. The Lombard, Ill. native added All-CCIW performances in the indoor high jump and outdoor 4x400 to finish with six all-conference awards on the year. Huber sits within the top-50 regionally in nine events, with three also sitting within the top-50 nationally. The elementary education major boasts a 3.93 GPA entering her senior season.

A kinesiology and allied health major with a 3.73 GPA, Skibinski collects her first academic honor from CSC. The Peoria, Ill. native ranked in the midwest in five events. Her time of 7.92 in the indoor 60m sat 25th regionally, while she ranked 28th in the 200m behind a time of 25.84. Skibinski added three rankings in the outdoor season, led by being a part of a 4x100 relay squad that posted a time of 49.13 to come in at No. 15. Individually, her time of 12.43 in the 100m was good for 28th, while she sat 45th in the 200m after clocking in at 25.93. She earned three All-CCIW honors throughout the season, as she finished within the top-eight at the CCIW championships in the indoor 60m and outdoor 100m and 200m. 

Hill, a physics major on the pre-engineering route, garners CSC Academic All-District status for the first time, as she boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA. The sophomore earned her first all-conference honor, as she finished eighth in the 200m at the CCIW indoor championship. With a season-best time of 25.70 in the indoor 200m, Hill ranked 25th regionally in the event. She added a regional ranking in the indoor 400m, as her time of 59.66 was good for 43rd. 

A member of the cross country and track and field teams, Morgan rounds out the academic all-district selections, as she also received the honor for the first time with a 3.61 GPA. The sophomore ranked within the top-50 regionally in two events, and was an all-conference honoree in the 10,000m race at the outdoor conference championship after finishing sixth. Morgan ranked 22nd in the loaded midwest region in the outdoor 10,000m, as her time of 39:04.80 slotted her 22nd. In the indoor 5,000m, she sat 46th with a time of 18:50.68.

Following stellar seasons, Crabtree and Huber advanced to the Academic All-America ballots. A CSC Academic All-America Second Team selection a season ago, Crabtree looks to repeat on the team, while Huber eyes her first Academic All-America honor. The Academic All-America teams will be announced Tuesday, July 7 at 12 p.m. ET.
