Track and Field Set for Final Last Chance Opportunity

Five Titans sit within national championship cutline

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's track and field teams will use one final opportunity at the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier hosted by Augustana College Wednesday-Thursday, May 13-14 to improve national qualifying marks. As the rankings currently sit, five Titans are inside the top-22 in Division III in their respective events. 

Seniors Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High), and Taylor French (Romeoville, Ill.-Plainfield East) along with juniors Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) and Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) are within the NCAA Division III top-22 cutline in their respective events. 

Ogunribido ranks second in the country in the triple jump with a season-best jump of 12.43m. Lowder also ranks in the top-10, coming in at seventh in the nation in the men's 400m with a season-best time of 46.99 at last week's last chance meet. Crabtree additionally is slotted seventh in the women's 3000m steeplechase after running a time of 10:33.93 at the Bryan Clay Invite April 16. 

Huber ranks 15th in the women's 800m after her personal-best time of 2:10.07 at the Indiana University Billy Hayes Invite May 8. French is near the cutline at No. 19 in the women's javelin with a throw of 42.08m. 

Senior Gavin Gonzalez (Mattoon, Ill.-Mattoon) looks to move inside the top-22 this week, as he currently sits No. 25 in the country in men's javelin with his school record throw of 60.87m April 11. Freshman Luke Huffaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) will also make an appearance in the men's javelin this week. 

Senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic), sophomore Jacob Pinkston (Tinley Park, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East), and freshmen Gwendolyn Boettinger (Palos Park, Ill.-Stagg) and Tori Brown (Glasford, Ill.-Illini Bluffs) are also slated to compete to improve their marks. 

Lowder, junior Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia), sophomore Alex Maas (Heyworth, Ill.-Heyworth), and freshman Dylan Hodges (Sycamore, Ill.-Sycamore) are also set to compete in the men's 4x400m relay. 

French will kick things off for the Titans on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the women's javelin. Live results will be available and can be found here.
