Nine Titans record top-10 finishes

DECATUR, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team wrapped up regular season play with a one-two finish as the Titan 'B' squad squeaked out a one-stroke win over the 'A' team at the Butts Classic hosted by Millikin University Tuesday, April 21. The IWU 'B' squad finished with a 13-over 301 on a windy final day at the par-72, 6,589-yard Country Club of Decatur, as the 'A' team charged up the leaderboard with a six-over round of 294, the best of the day.

Senior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) and sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) finished in second and third-place on the individual leaderboard, respectively. Lahart posted a career-best 54-hole total of one-under (215) and battled for the individual title throughout the day. Castro rocketed up the leaderboard with a final round two-under 70 to finish one-over for three rounds and claim his fourth consecutive top-three finish. 

Freshmen Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) and Kasey May (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) each finished in the top-five as the duo tied for fourth-place with a three-round total of 218. A flurry of Titans finished in a tie for seventh-place as seniors Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West), Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central), and Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), along with sophomore Lane Ludwig (Effingham, Ill.-St. Anthony) and freshman Kevin Schuh (Glenview, Ill.-Glenbrook South) each recorded totals of 222.

Tyler Wengronowitz of Lake Forest battled with Lahart throughout the final round, but Wengronowitz survived the day with medalist honors carding an impressive 54-hole total of two-under (214). The Titan squad finished one-two as Carthage College finished in third, 14 strokes back of the IWU 'A' squad, with a total of 886. 

The Titans roll into postseason play with the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships Wednesday-Friday, April 29-May 1. Action will begin Wednesday morning from Rockford, Ill. at Aldeen Golf Club.
