Round One Suspended at Men’s Golf National Championship

Titans completed round one at Las Colinas

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. - Round one of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship was suspended due to weather Tuesday, May 12 after the Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team carded a four-over par 288 as part of the morning wave. At the par-71, 6820-yard Las Colinas Golf Course at Mission Inn Resort + Club, the Titans saw all five players shoot below 73.  

Nineteen teams in the afternoon wave are yet to finish their opening rounds. Those teams will complete round one tomorrow morning with round two immediately following. 

Freshman Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) carded the low round of the day for the Titans in his national championship debut. Andrews utilized three birdies and two bogeys to post a one-under 70. Senior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way East) had the second-lowest score for IWU with a one-over 72. 

Seniors Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central), and sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) posted matching scores of two-over 73. 

The Titans will take the course tomorrow following the conclusion of round one. Tee times and live results from the par-72, 6778-yard El Campeon Golf Course can be found here.
