Titans Tally Three Wins on First Day of NCAA Regional

Beck, Feruzi, and Murray snag wins

TIFFIN, OHIO. - Three wins highlighted the first day of competition as the Illinois Wesleyan University women's wrestling team competed at the NCAA Regional hosted by Tiffin University. 

IWU won a total of three matches in the program's first-ever appearance at the regional meet. Freshman Alila Beck (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) registered her first career pin with a win over Elmhurst's Bella Curcuru in 1:59 in the 131-pound bracket. Sophomore 180-pounder Sifa Feruzi (Denver, Colo.-Macomb) defeated Tessa Allen of Manchester in the opening consolation round on a 10-0 technical fall. Freshman Kennedy Murray (Evanston, Ill.-Evanston) rounded out the Illinois Wesleyan wins with a technical fall against Alma's Camille Mitchell in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Sophomore Alivia Davey (Ripon, Wis.-Berlin) advanced to day two despite falling in her opening bout of the tournament. She begins her day tomorrow in pursuit of her second straight national tournament appearance against Hiram's Emily Lorenzon in the third round of the consolation draw. Action begins at 11 a.m. ET.
