Lowder and Huber Shine at GVSU Big Meet

Both notch top-10 times in Division III

ALLENDALE, Mich. - Illinois Wesleyan University track and field senior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) soared to a new College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin record Friday, Feb. 13 at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet. 

Lowder set the CCIW all-time indoor record in the 400m invitational finishing second with a career-best time of 47.56. The time is also good for the fifth-best in Division III this season. He followed Division II Seton Hill's Jacy Willis, who won with a time of 47.09. Lowder also notched a season-best time in the 200m invitational, crossing the finish line in 21.92.

Junior Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) took center stage for the Titans, finishing first in the 800m. Huber dashed to a personal-best 2:12.37 soaring into seventh in Division III. The Lombard, Ill native bested the next competitor by just half of a second.

In the 400m Open, freshman Dylan Hodges (Sycamore, Ill.-Sycamore) crossed the finish line in eighth-place at 50.72. 

In the field events, senior Isaac Whitaker (Bloomington, Ill.-Central Catholic) slotted second in pole vault reaching a height of 4.67m. Freshman Gwendolyn Boettinger (Palos Park, Ill.-Stagg) continued her strong rookie year, leaping to a height of 1.62m to finish eighth in the women's high jump invitational. 

Another group from the Titan track and field teams will be in action tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Roger Haynes Invitational in Monmouth, Ill. Links to follow the action can be found on the schedule page of iwusports.com
