Women’s Golf Begins Season at Redbird Invite

Titans one of 16 teams competing, sole Division III participant

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team is set to start its season across town at the Redbird Invitational, hosted by Illinois State University, this Sunday-Monday, Sept 7-8. Thirty-six holes will be contested Sunday, followed by the final 18 on Monday. Sunday's shotgun start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m at the 6093-yard Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill. 

The Green and White is coming off of a season that included a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship and a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championship. In the Mizuno Women's Golf Coaches Associtation Preseason Coaches' Poll announced on Friday, Sept. 5, the Titans ranked 15th, exactly where they finished to end the 2024-25 season. 

The Titans are the lone Division III participant at the tournament among Division I opponents Bowling Green, Butler, Dayton, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Illinois State, Indiana State, IUPUI, Loyola-Chicago, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, South Dakota State, and Valparaiso. 

The Green and White will have one team and one individual compete in the tournament. Sophomores Grace Fagan (Kirkwood, Mo.-Visitation Academy) and Gigi Zera (Glenview, Ill.-Loyola Academy), juniors Nora Cerroni (Waukesha, Wis.-Waukesha North) and Emily Gastrau (Wauwatosa, Wis.-Wauwatosa East), and senior Brooke Erhard (Champaign, Ill.-St. Thomas More) will make up the Titans' lineup. Freshman Julia Henry (Homewood, Ill.-Homewood-Flossmoor) will play as an individual in her collegiate debut.
