Crabtree Wins Spartanburg Pre-National Meet

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Senior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) continued her dominance in the 2025 Illinois Wesleyan University women's cross country season, winning the Spartanburg Pre-National Meet Saturday, Sept. 20 at Roger Milliken Center. The women's team claimed seventh-place, while the men's team grabbed 12th-place at the event.

Crabtree picked up her third win in as many events this season and fourth of her career at the site of the 2025 Division III Cross Country National Championship with a time of 21:47.6. Crabtree was strong down the final stretch, pulling away from runner-up Riley Capuano of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, a top-20 finisher at the last year's national championship, and ultimately winning by nine seconds.

Freshman Alexis Spatz (Spring Grove, Ill.-Richmond Burton) was the Titans' second finisher, clocking in at 23:29.3 and earning 32nd-place. Senior Abby Quinn (Chicago, Ill.-Marist) and sophomore Taylor Fleury (Algonquin Ill.-Dundee-Crown) followed, in 54th and 59th-place, respectively.

On the men's side, sophomore Jack Thomas (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) led the way for Illinois Wesleyan, recording a time of 27:03.5 to finish 63rd. Senior Zack Daniel (Lake Barrington, Ill.-Barrington) and sophomore Carson Davis (Mt. Zion, Ill.-Mt. Zion) were the next finishers for the Titans, claiming 78th and 90th-place, respectively.

After enjoying next weekend off, the men's and women's cross country teams venture to Waverly, Iowa, for the Dan Hutson Invite Saturday, Oct. 4. The invite will be hosted at Max Cross Country Course, the site of the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship later this season.
