Women’s Tennis Completes ITA Regional

Ehrlich and Bell pick up opening round win in doubles

ST. LOUIS. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis completed the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Regional, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis Friday, Sept. 19 and Saturday, Sept. 20.

Taking on some of the best players in the midwest region, Illinois Wesleyan came away with a win on doubles. Juniors Amber Ehrlich (Springfield, Ill.-Glenwood) and Olivia Bell (Bloomington, Ill.-Bloomington) opened by defeating Ivana Stefanova and Natalie Labicki of Monmouth College, 8-5. They dropped their second round match to fourth seeded Ally Lin and Eliana Han of WashU, 8-1, concluding their tournament.

In singles play, Ehrlich defeated Maddalena Elisa Rosati Dumangane of the Illinois Institute of Technology in the first round, 6-2, 6-2. She bowed out to 17th seed, Kiara Komlodi of WashU, 6-0, 6-1.

Sophomore Gabi Lipske (Gurnee, Ill. - Mundelein) fell in her opening round match to Maddie Larsen of Denison University, 6-4, 6-1. She fell to Sofia Strupovets of Lake Forest College in consolation play, 8-1 on Saturday.

The Titans resume their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin slate on Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Millikin. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
