Men’s Golf Travels Back to Wisconsin for Wrigglesworth Invite

Titans will take two teams

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University men's golf team is set to compete at the Wrigglesworth Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this Sunday-Monday, Sep. 14-15. Both rounds will take place at Eau Claire Country Club, with shotgun starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, and 9:30 a.m. on Monday. 

The Titans are coming off of a runner-up finish at the Carthage Firebird Fall Classic, where they posted a total score of three-under, 571. The competition was highlighted by a career-best performance from senior Myles Lahart (Park Ridge, Ill.-Maine South) who finished second overall at five-under. Sophomore Pablo Castro (Palatine, Ill.-Palatine) finished in eighth-place, and freshman Jared Code (Calgary, Alberta, Canada-Ernest Manning), senior Michael Spitzer (Hinsdale, Ill.-Hinsdale Central), and sophomore Joey Sluzas (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport) all earned a share of ninth-place. 

Illinois Wesleyan will be one of 16 teams competing in the tournament that includes No. 24 Gustavus Adolphus, Augsburg, Concordia-Moorhead, Edgewood, Saint John's (MN), Central (Iowa), North Central, UW-Eau Claire, Lake Forest, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Superior, St. Olaf, UW-Stout, Dubuque, and Bethel (Minn.). 

The Titans will take two teams to the events. Making up the IWU 'A' team will be seniors Juney Bai (Mokena, Ill.-Lincoln-Way Central), Spitzer, and Lahart, along with Sluzas and Castro. The Titans' 'B' roster will consist of freshmen Code, Ryan Andrews (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville), and Antonio Gutierrez (Elk Grove Village, Ill.-Conant), with sophomore Michael O'Keefe (Chicago, Ill.-Mount Carmel) and senior Aidan Healy (New Lenox, Ill.-Lincoln-Way West) rounding out the group.
