NEW ORLEANS - Senior Ernie Waterson (Bloomington, Ill.-Cornerstone Christian) and sophomore Carson Green (Centralia, Ill.-Centralia) were listed as United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Athletes Monday, July 21, as the organization released its academic awards. They are the first Titans to earn the honor on the men's side since 2023.

To be eligible for individual honors, a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 while having competed for an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship during the 2024 season, or been one of the top 50 individuals in their respective events or be a member of a top 35 relay team.

Waterson, the program's first College Sports Communicators Academic All-America honoree since 2017, closed out his senior season ranked 42nd nationally in the 800m. The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin 800m champion, he carried a 3.51 GPA as an economics major. Waterson wraps up his career with seven appearances on IWU's all-time top-10 list. He graduated with the second-fastest outdoor 800m time in program laurels at 1:51.48, the fastest since Tyler Saunders set the standard in 2012.

A member of IWU's 4x400 relay, Green helped the Titans clock a time of 3:12.92 at the Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier. The mark stands 25th-best across Division III. Green, alongside his relay teammates, won the 4x400 CCIW title. Individually, he reeled in All-CCIW honors in long jump and javelin. He carries a 3.34 grade point average while studying business administration.
