GENEVA, Ohio – At the conclusion of day one of the NCAA DIvision III Track and Field Championships, in Geneva, Ohio, Thursday, May 22, senior Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) sits seventh through four events of the women's heptathlon and junior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) broke her own school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase preliminary round to advance to finals. The final three events of the heptathlon as well as the men's 400m preliminary rounds and the steeplechase finals will run tomorrow, Friday, May 23.

Huber opened the heptathlon event scoring 756 points in the 100m hurdles, finishing 20th in the event with a time of 15.66 seconds, a personal-best for the senior. Due to cold and rainy conditions throughout the day, the high jump was moved indoors, where Huber cleared 1.60m (5'3"). Her mark was good for fifth in the field and scored 736 points to move up to 14th heading into the shot put. Huber tied her personal-best mark of 11.73m (38'6") in the event, placing third and totaling 643 points to move into eighth-place in the heptathlon.

Huber finished out the first day of the heptathlon with a 25.82-second effort in the 200m, good for seventh in the field and a personal-best. The time brings her day one point total to 2948 as she sits seventh overall with three events to go in the multi event.

In the 3000m steeplechase, Crabtree settled into the lead pack early on, jostling for fourth and fifth place. With 150m to go and coming off her final water barrier jump, Crabtree produced a monstrous kick to finish just outside the automatic heat qualifiers but was the next best time, finishing fifth, to snag a spot in Friday's final. Her 10:33.55 time crushes her school record time by almost 10 seconds.

Huber will finish up the final three events starting Friday morning at 11 a.m. ET. Junior Evan Lowder (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community) will race the 400m prelims at 3 p.m. ET with the steeplchase finals set for 4:55 p.m.
