NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. - For the first time since 2021, the Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team had representation on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Region Team, announced by the organization Friday, May 16. Senior Mia Fiandaca (St. Charles, Ill.-St. Charles North) earned Second Team All-Region honors, becoming the 17th Titan in program history to garner the accolade, and the first under head coach Abby Kushina.

The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Year, Fiandaca capped off her stellar career with one of her best years donning the Green and White. The senior earned her second First Team All-CCIW honor, and was twice named the CCIW Defensive Player of the Week this season, finishing her career with six defensive weekly awards. Fiandaca broke the single-season program record for caused turnovers, totaling 58 over 12 games, a program-best average of 4.83 per game. She also broke the single season record for ground balls per game with an average of 3.92, as she led the Green and White with 47 ground balls this season. A threat on both sides of the field, Fiandaca finished with the team lead in goals (36) and points (28), and her average of three goals per game is the second-best season average all-time.

Continuing on her record-breaking year, Fiandaca rewrote the book with single-game records of ground balls with 10 at Illinois Tech (Feb. 26) and 12 caused turnovers against Edgewood (March 1).

Fiandaca was one of two CCIW student-athletes on the list, as Carroll's Grace Tumilty was also a second team honoree.
