Women’s Lacrosse Closes Season in CCIW Tournament Semifinal at Carroll

Titans finish season with 6-11 record

WAUKESHA, Wis. - The Illinois Wesleyan University women's lacrosse team saw its season end in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Tournament Semifinals, as the Titans fell at top-seeded Carroll University, 22-2, Wednesday, April 29. With the loss, IWU ends with a record of 6-11.

The loss marks the end of the careers of fifth-year Bri Kiser (Crown Point, Ind.-Crown Point), seniors Sadie Newton (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Anelise DiGiovanni (Lockport, Ill.-Lockport Township), Sarah Riepe (Aurora, Ill.-St. Francis), and Carleigh Fountain (Orland Park, Ill.-Carl Sandburg), and junior Chloe Heyl (Houston, Texas-Emery/Weiner) who is graduating early in December.

Sophomore Marli Brown (Kansas City, Mo.-Notre Dame de Sion) made 10 first-half saves as Illinois Wesleyan was outshot 28-3 over the first 30 minutes. The Pios used a 12-3 advantage at the draw in the first half to drive ahead, 14-0 into the intermission.

Illinois Wesleyan cracked the scoreboard at the 11:07 mark in the third quarter as sophomore Maddie Gibson (Fenton, Mo.-Rockwood Summit) found the back of the net off Riepe's assist, but it was not enough to overcome the early deficit.

Sophomore Sophie Shore (St. Peters, Mo.-Francis Howell) scored a goal in the fourth quarter, but it was IWU's last of the game, as the Titans suffered a 22-2 defeat.

The Green and White closed the season with a 6-11 record. IWU reeled in three CCIW Player of the Week awards and saw two Titans land on the All-CCIW teams.
