Women’s Track and Field Picked to Finish Third at CCIW Championships

Championship meet set to take place in Naperville, Ill.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Illinois Wesleyan University women's track and field team landed the No. 3 spot in the annual College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Pre-Championships coaches' poll. Hosted by North Central College, the CCIW Championships will be held in Naperville, Ill. Friday and Saturday, May 2-3, with Friday's events inside Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium kicking off at 10 a.m. Competition will continue into Saturday with a 9:30 a.m. start time. 

IWU compiled 45 points in the coaches' poll, trailing only top-seeded Elmhurst with 64 points and all eight possible first-place votes, and North Central's 57 points and one first-place vote. Augustana totaled 42 points for fourth while Carthage's 38 points rounds out the top-five. Wheaton was picked sixth (29), North Park seventh (20), Carroll eighth (15), and Millikin landed the final spot (14). 

The Titans turned in a fifth-place finish at last year's outdoor championships but came back strong at the 2025 indoor meet, finishing third with 77 points. Heading into the weekend, the Green and White hold the top spots in six events. 

Senior Annalese Chudy (Libertyville, Ill.-Libertyville) owns the fastest 10,000m time of 26:52.47, a mark that is nearly three minutes faster than the next closest competitor and also heads into the conference meet with the third fastest time in the 5,000m at 17:46.82. Junior Adriana Crabtree (Normal, Ill.-University High) sits atop the 1500m field by just under 13 seconds with a time of 4:33.64.

Sophomore Imani Ogunribido (Hanover Park, Ill.-Lake Park) tops the triple jump field with her 12.23m (40'1.50") mark that currently ranks fifth nationally. Ogunribido leads the conference field by over two feet.

Senior Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East), who was a late addition to the track and field team after wrapping up the IWU basketball season that saw her lead the Titans to a Sweet Sixteen run in the NCAA Tournament, owns the top marks in the heptathlon (4821) and the high jump (1.67m, 5'5.75'). Huber's heptathlon point total ranks eighth in Division III this season in addition to her No. 12 ranking in the high jump.

Senior Carlyssa King (Decatur, Ill.-Forsyth-Maroa) leads the conference in the women's hammer throw with her school record mark of 53.94m (177'0") while also ranking in the nation's top-10 at No. 9.

Additionally, IWU holds a pair of top-three rankings in the 800m as well as the 4-by-400m relay. Sophomore Alex Reinhart (Normal, Ill.-Normal West) holds the second-fastest time in the 800m with a time of 2:13.64, and sophomore Mackenzie Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) sits third at 2:17.20 in the event. 

The 4-by-400m relay team of juniors Bella Gonzalez (Itasca, Ill.-Lake Park) and Jordynn Griffin (Bloomington, Ill.-Normal Community), Reinhart, and Lauren Huber owns the second-best time in the conference at 3:57.84.

The CCIW Championships in Naperville, Ill. will kick off on Friday, May 2 at 10 a.m. inside North Central's Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium. Saturday's competition will pick up at 9:30 a.m. with the multi events. Adult admission is $10 per day, while admission for seniors (65+), students and children ages 6-14 is $5 per day. Children ages 5 and younger will receive free admission. Current students at a CCIW institution will receive free admission when presenting a student ID.
