Dave Wrath Academic All-CCIW Winter Honorees Announced

Roper & Huber earn Jack Swartz Award

NAPERVILLE, Ill. The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced the recipients of the Academic All-Conference honors from the 2024 winter season, Friday, April 24. A total of 69 Illinois Wesleyan student-athletes were recognized on the Dave Wrath Academic All-CCIW team, while senior men's basketball player Nick Roper (St. Louis, Mo.-MICDS) and senior women's basketball player Lauren Huber (Lombard, Ill.-Glenbard East) were named IWU's Jack Swartz Awardwinners. 

The CCIW Academic All-Conference list comprises those individuals who achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school. 

Additionally, the CCIW announced all of the recipients of the Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference award. Each CCIW member institution selects two student-athletes (one male & one female) from each of the three sports seasons (fall, winter, spring) to be honored as Jack Swartz Academic All-Conference members. To be eligible, an individual must have an overall grade point average of 3.50 or above and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.

Roper, a unanimous First Team All-CCIW selection, was the leading scorer for the Titans this past season. The St.Louis, Mo. native was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District 8 Team and D3hoops.com First Team All-Region squad. In a season where Roper averaged 15.3 points per game, while adding 5.6 rebounds per contest alongside 1.9 assists per game. He was named the CCIW Player of the Week Feb. 3, and led the team in scoring in 15 of 30 games. The Preseason D3hoops.com All-American honoree posted two double-doubles and eight 20-point games. He was most recently named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team, where he will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.

In the midst of an outstanding senior season, Huber became just the fifth Titan to earn All-CCIW honors four times during a career and is the first in program's history to garner First Team All-CCIW status four times. The Lombard, Ill native was named a Women's Basketball Coaches All-America selection, D3hoops Third Team All-American, WBCA All-Star, D3hoops First Team All-Region 8, and a unanimous First Team All-College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin honoree. In a season where Huber broke the program's all-time scoring record, a mark that had stood for nearly 30 years. She finished her career with exactly 1700 points, averaging 15.0 points per game this season. Huber is tied for second all-time with 884 career rebounds, pulling in 7.8 per contest this season. Huber was most recently received CSC Academic All-District honors, where she will also advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot.
