BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Illinois Wesleyan University Athletic Director Mike Wagner and women's volleyball head coach Kim Nelson-Brown announced the promotion of Tyler White to associate head coach Thursday, Aug. 6. White has been an assistant coach for the past six seasons while serving as the program's recruiting coordinator and is also the Assistant AD for Department Operations.

"From the moment Tyler accepted the assistant coach position, she has been in charge of our recruiting," Nelson-Brown said. "Our current success is a true reflection of her work and diligence to consistently make IWU volleyball better. Not only did she have an outstanding career as a student-athlete, she was a leader by example in the classroom, weight room, and on the court.  She has continued to deliver that same leadership as an assistant coach, and makes this an easy decision to elevate her to associate head coach."

White has played an integral role in one of the most successful stretches in program history. She helped the Titans capture back-to-back College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin regular season and tournament championships along with consecutive trips to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen in 2024-25.

Throughout her time as an assistant, White has primarily worked with outside hitters and the Titans' defense while bringing in some of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin's most impressive recruiting classes. She has coached 25 all-conference selectees, seven American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region honorees and helped guide Taylor French to four AVCA All-America honors. Along with French, White has coached junior Alex Bardouniotis and Courtney McAuliffe to AVCA All-America honorable mention honors.

An accomplished IWU student-athlete from 2015-18, White was a four-time AVCA All-American, earning first-team honors three times and honorable mention her freshman year. She was selected as the CCIW Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 and remains the only Titan to earn AVCA National Freshman of the Year honors (2015). She captained the 2018 CCIW championship and NCAA Sweet Sixteen team and tallied eight career CCIW Player of the Week awards. White was a four-time team Most Valuable Player recipient, as voted by her teammates, and is the program's career record holder in digs with 1,987.

A native of Normal, Ill., and graduate of Normal Community West High School, White earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Illinois Wesleyan in 2019. She and her husband Taylor reside in Bloomington with their dog Louie.
